Portfolio Analyst – 6 Month Contract
Wellington | Daily rate contract | Immediate start
We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Analyst for an initial 6‑month contract to support a large, complex portfolio operating at scale. This role will suit someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments and enjoys bringing structure, insight, and clarity to portfolio investment and delivery decisions.
You’ll play a key role supporting portfolio leadership, strengthening portfolio governance, and enhancing reporting, insights, and decision support across a significant digital and transformation investment portfolio.
The Role:
As a Portfolio Analyst, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across investment management, portfolio performance, and delivery teams, providing analytical support and insights across the full portfolio lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting portfolio planning, prioritisation, and investment management activities
  • Maintaining and enhancing portfolio data within enterprise PPM tooling (e.g. Planview)
  • Producing high‑quality portfolio dashboards, reports, and insights using modern data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI)
  • Supporting financial tracking, forecasting, budget phasing, benefits reporting, closures and reconciliations
  • Assisting with portfolio governance activities including papers, reports, briefings, minutes, and executive updates
  • Contributing to improvements in portfolio cadence, reporting quality, and decision‑making visibility
About You:
We’re looking for a confident, delivery‑focused analyst who can operate in ambiguity and quickly add value.
You’ll bring:
  • Proven experience in a Portfolio Analyst or Portfolio Management role within complex organisations
  • Strong understanding of portfolio, programme and investment management practices
  • Experience with Planview (highly desirable), or similar PPM tools
  • Strong data capability, including Power BI or equivalent reporting/visualisation tools
  • Solid financial literacy, including forecasting, tracking, and investment reporting
  • Excellent communication skills – able to work in the detail and communicate clearly at executive level
  • A proactive, self‑starting approach with strong stakeholder engagement capability
Note: Due to the nature of the environment, candidates must be able to undergo relevant background checks.
Why This Role?
  • Work on a high‑profile, enterprise‑scale portfolio
  • Be part of a mature transformation environment focused on delivery outcomes
  • Join at a time of high portfolio activity and decision velocity
  • Immediate impact opportunity with strong visibility across leadership
If you’re an experienced Portfolio Analyst looking for your next contract in Wellington, we’d love to hear from you.
