Geoff is a successful, versatile and reliable Senior IT Project and Programme Manager with over 35 years varied experience gained in all facets of the IT industry – including IT vendors, in house IT, and as a business user.  Prior to becoming a full time professional project manager, Geoff fulfilled roles in operations, development, analysis, management and has been a software house director.

Geoff has taken sole charge for delivery of IT projects into various business sectors, including Finance, Government and Commercial.  He has also managed the implementation of numerous information systems for businesses in theses sectors.  Geoff is experienced in projects with budgets up to $NZ10M and requiring up to 10,000 days of man effort from internal resources and external vendors to complete.  

Geoff has successfully delivered a wide variety of projects including systems development, business transitions and logistical.  He also brings an impressive track record managing complex web projects, examples include the Ministry of Social Development where Geoff successfully project managed and implemented a secure public web site for NZ student loan management.  This was a complex project, there were many technical components of the project including a J2EE based front end, Web Logic integration, CA Siteminder for security and a large and complex back end Oracle database system

Geoff has been instrumental in recovering red projects and managing them to a successful conclusion.  Most of his successful projects have been delivered into high visibility, business critical situations with extremely high cost of failure.

As well as having a strong all round technical background, covering major .Net and J2EE architectures, his key strengths include an ability to relate to stakeholders at all levels in large and small enterprises, both business and IT based.  Geoff’s experience in both sides of the IT vendor/client spectrum has enabled him to manage difficult relationships and resolve conflict both inside an organisation and externally.  He understands the value of morale and motivation and typically gets the best possible performance from individual members of his project teams.

Geoff’s style is collegial where possible and he particularly favours open, frank and accurate communication at all levels from junior developers to Chief Executives.  He has been able to adapt to, and deliver in, varied business cultures and situations.
